It is well known that the HIES girls’ basketball team knows how to play while ahead. Saturday, they proved they can come from behind as well.
Trailing by as many as 16 in the first half, Coach Nichole Dixon’s bunch roared back for a 59-45 win over Spalding High School at Spalding. The Bears also topped Spalding two weeks ago at HIES. HI didn’t shoot it well to open the game, but with three minutes to go in the half, went on a run to cut the lead to 10 at intermission. The momentum didn’t stop; the Bears kept their foot on the gas and took and eight-point lead with three minutes to go and never looked back. Balance was once again key, as four scored in double figures. Marya Hudgins scored 17 points, pulled 12 rebounds, passed off for four assists and had three steals. Jada Farrell scored 12, Jillian Hollingshead 11 and Naja Reeves had 11 points, three assists and two steals. Comments are closed.
