Coach Nichole Dixon’s girls got better against a tough Charles Henderson team out of Alabama; a squad that featured all five starters collegiate signees.
Our Bears trailed 14-4 early and cut it to 14-9 at the end of the first quarter. Trailing most of the second, the Bears took the lead at 2:48 when Rachel Suttle hit a three. The Bears would go on to be up 30-23 at half, 43-36 going into the final frame, and 47-36 with 7:05 left. Unfortunately, the Trojans went on a 16-3 run to take a 52-50 lead with 2:16 remaining before closing it out at 54-52. Looking at the stat sheet, the girls were balanced with Marya Hudgins leading with 13 points, Cierra Foster following with 10; Suttle added nine and both Jillian Hollingshead and Jada Farrell pitching in eight each. Hollingshead was 11-for-12 from the field in the two tournament games combined; she was 3-for-3 today after yesterday’s 8-for-9 performance. She also grabbed 10 rebounds; Suttle and Hudgins came away with eight each, and Farrell pulled seven. Suttle picked up three steals. Comments are closed.
