The Holy Innocents’ girls’ hoops squad celebrated Thanksgiving with a victory Friday morning at Holiday Hoopsgiving - played at HI - as our Bears held on for a 40-35 win over Greenforest.
Coach Nichole Dixon’s squad (4-1) had a seemingly healthy 26-15 lead at the half, but the Eagles soared back to cut the lead to two at one point in the third period and sliced it to one with just 3:33 left in the game. Fortunately, HI was able to stall all a lot of the clock in the final two minutes, while both Jillian Hollingshead and Jada Farrell hit a free throw each in the last 56 seconds. Looking at the stat sheet, Hollingshead finished with 16 points and four rebounds, while Rachel Suttle had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards to go with three assists. Jada Farrell scored nine, Olivia Hutcherson contributed 10 rebounds and six steals, and Caroline Berkey picked up three steals. - DUNN Comments are closed.
